It's a nice calendar, pretty photos of birds and some interesting bird info on each page. I use it in my home office to add a touch of nature. It shows American holidays and phases of the moon on the various dates, though the type size for the holidays is a bit small to read from 3 feet away (width of desk plus keyboard tray). The dates and days of the week and boxes for the dates are all a good size, easy to read from a distance, very clear.The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I used to have a Secret Garden calendar which showed the previous and next month in a tiny box at the top of each page. Now that we are in January, for example, I find I miss being able to look up and check dates in February without having to get up and turn the page ahead. I would happily exchange some of the birding info for two little squares that show December and February.So, a good wall calendar for those who like gardens, birds, and nature, but if you want to see the surrounding months, look for a different calendar.
This calendar features some lesser known birds (such as Crimson Collarded Tanager, Sunbirds and Desert Cardinal) along with more commonly known birds like Cardinals, Bluebirds and Finches. The calendar is large (about 12" wide and 24" inches tall when fully opened) but light enough to put on a refrigerator with heavy magnets. The dates are large, easy to read and there is room underneath to write in notes. Major holidays as well as not-so-major are noted. On the side is two or three paragraphs that describe the bird of the month. Below that is another box with various types of information, such as birding with kids, what to plant to attract certain birds, tips on birdwatching, etc. There is also a quote on each month. There are also a few smaller photos of different birds for each month.
Each month contains a beautiful and calming scene showing our feathered friends enjoying themselves!
I smile every time I look at this calendar which has a prominent place on our fridge. The colors are bright - it is quality and for a good cause too!
